In October 2022, New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern embarked on her inaugural journey to Antarctica. The objective of this expedition was twofold: to commemorate the 65th anniversary of Scott Base and to observe firsthand the scientific research, environmental protection efforts, heritage conservation initiatives, and day-to-day operations carried out by New Zealanders in Antarctica.
Due to limited accommodation at New Zealand's Scott Base, the Prime Minister's entourage was kept small, with only one slot available for media representation. Mike was selected and tasked with the responsibilities of capturing photographs, filming footage, and reporting on the journey and the content shared for use by various media outlets.
Displayed below are select images from the expedition. Additionally, a multimedia project created for the New Zealand Herald can be viewed by following this link.
