Mike spent a day At the waikato Rodeo in Kihikihi where cowboys from all over New Zealand competed in various rodeo events.
While the participants and a vibrant crowd relished the day, animal activists outside the event protested claiming rodeo is cruelty disguised as entertainment.
Mike took the opportunity to photograph the event and talk with numerous people from both side of the issue.
Along with producing the images, mike wrote a feature for the New Zealand Herald on SUnday paper and website online.
